Create an intentional crossing nursery

Crossing nurseries in the EBS can be intentional or cross parent nurseries. In intentional crossing nursery, the parent roles (whether female, male, or both) of the germplasm are already known and will be planted to be used in a cross. The following hybridization workflows can be supported:

  1. Staggered planting - an entry can be planted multiple times, and each planting batch (considered 1 rep) is 1 block.

  2. Block planting- One (or more) entry is 1 block.

Note that intentional cross nursery does not allow using germplasms as parents from other nurseries or trials.

Provide basic information

You are first required to give basic information about the experiment and optionally describe the experiment by providing additional details.

1. From the Create Experiment page, click the drop-down field under Experiment Type and select Intentional Crossing Nursery.

 

2. Wait for the page to load the default values (Experiment Type, Crop, Program, and Experiment Code).

Click on the Default Values header to expand that section and see the default values.

 

3. Fill in all fields marked with an asterisk ( * ).

Although the remaining fields are optional, we encourage you to fill these in so that your experiment information is complete and easier to identify for future use.

 

4. Once done, in the upper right corner click Save.

 

5. Wait for the notification that the experiment is successfully created.
