Set the protocol (Generation Nursery)

Each experiment will have different protocols on the planting, pollination, data collection, and harvest methods. In this step, you can specify the (A) planting, (B) pollination, (C) traits, (D) management, and (E) harvest protocols.

Set the planting protocols

1. Under Planting instructions, you can specify the crop establishment, planting type, and plot type.

2. After selecting the plot type, indicate the required information marked with an asterisk ( * ). You may also write planting instructions in the text field. This is optional.

3. Once done, click Save. Click on the next protocol tab on the left side.

Set the pollination instructions

1. From the Pollination tab, provide pollination instructions for your experiment in the text field provided. You are encouraged to do this step.

2. Once done, click Save. Click on the next protocol tab on the left side.

Set the trait protocols

You may provide the traits one by one or select existing trait protocols (which are a group of selected traits previously used in an existing experiment).

Select individual traits

1. Click the Traits subtab.

2. Under the Trait drop-down field, select the trait you want to add.

3. Click Add to move it to the Selected Traits section.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you are satisfied with your selected traits. Click on the next protocol tab on the left side.

Select trait lists

1. From the Traits subtab, click the Trait Lists subtab.

2. Under the Trait List drop-down field, select the trait protocol that you want to add.

3. Click Add to move all the traits to the Selected Traits section.

If you want to replace your current selection, click the Replace all button () to remove all the traits in the Selected Traits section and to add those from the chosen protocol list.

5. Provide the instructions you want to indicate and click All or Selected (if you have selected traits).

6. You may also delete any selected traits by ticking the checkboxes beside them and clicking the trash button .

7. Your changes are automatically saved. Click on the next protocol tab on the left side.

Set the management protocols

You can specify the management attributes to be observed one by one or select existing management protocols (which are a group of selected management attributes previously used in an existing experiment).

Select individual management attributes

1. Click the Management Variables subtab.

2. Under the Management Attribute drop-down menu, select the attribute you want to add.
