Update germplasm attributes (admin only)

 


For data managers and EBS administrators, it is now possible to create or update the attributes and other information unique to germplasm. The Update tab in the Germplasm tool allows them to update germplasm attributes and manage them. Any added or updated information will be reflected in the germplasm information.

From the Germplasm tool, click Update. The tab will display the update germplasm browser, where you will see all update germplasm transactions in the system.

A. File Status lets you know the progress of the update transaction indicated by a status.

B. Template lets you download the prescribed CSV format for the germplasm attribute file.

C. Upload lets you create or add germplasm information and attributes.

D. Notification icon informs you about developments in the background processes.

E. Reset grid icon reverts you to the default germplasm update browser display.

F. Personalized grid settings icon allows you to hide or unhide columns in the germplasm update browser.

G. Export icon generates a copy of the germplasm update browser in various file formats.

H. Complete update transaction icon lets you begin the updating process.

I. Delete update transaction icon allows you to remove an uploaded germplasm update transaction.

J. Download file icon lets you download and save individual germplasm upload transactions on your device.

K. View summary icon lets you see the updated germplasm attribute and the information about it.

L. View error logs icon lets you know what went wrong in the uploading and validation process.

Let’s start updating germplasm attributes!

Create update germplasm transaction

Download germplasm update template

Download a blank template

  1. In the Update tab, download the prescribed format by clicking Template. > Blank Template.

 

  1. Fill out the CSV template with the germplasm attributes you want to update in the system. The CSV template contains variables to be populated with valid information.

  2. Save the edited CSV file on your computer.

 

Download a template from the saved list

  1. In the Update tab, click Template. > Template from list.

 

  1. A browser will open the germplasm lists available within the program. To view one of the lists, click the View List () button. Then, a modal window will display the germplasm list and other information related to it.

 

  1. To download the template, click the Download template () button beside the germplasm list, then select Germplasm attribute.

 

  1. Fill out the CSV template with the germplasm attributes you want to update in the system. The CSV template contains variables to be populated with valid information.

  2. Save the edited CSV file on your computer.

 

Upload an attribute file

  1. In the Update tab, Click Upload.

 

  1. In the Update Germplasm File Upload modal window, click Browse to look for the germplasm attribute file you created.

 

  1. Select the file or drag and drop it in the modal window, then click Validate.

 

  1. Once successfully uploaded, the file status of the updated file will be changed to VALIDATED. To continue with the update, click the Complete update transaction button ( ).

 

The status message VALIDATION ERROR is displayed when errors are detected in the CSV file. You can view the specific errors of the germplasm attributes in the View error logs button ( ) so you can update your file as needed.

 

  1. A preview of the germplasm attributes to be updated will be shown in the browser. Click Complete.

 

  1. A data validation job will run in the background. The File Status column in the browser will show the status of CREATION IN PROGRESS.

  2. The File Status column will display the completed status message once the data validation finishes successfully.

 

View updated germplasm attribute

  1. In the Update tab, locate the uploaded transaction for deletion in the germplasm browser. Click the View summary button () beside the COMPLETED transaction.

 

  1. Once the review page is loaded, click on the germplasm designation from the list.

 

  1. From the modal window, click View More Information.

 

  1. Click the Attributes tab to view the added attribute information related to the selected germplasm.

Another way to check the updated germplasm attribute, especially for regular users, is by viewing the germplasm attribute information from the Search tab.

 

Delete update germplasm transaction

  1. In the Update tab, locate the uploaded transaction for deletion in the germplasm browser. Click the Delete update transaction button () beside the transaction to be deleted.

 

  1. In the Delete File Upload Transaction modal window, click Confirm to delete the transaction in the system.
