Merge germplasm records (admin only)
Combining two or more germplasm into a single record can now be done by administrators in the Germplasm tool. Breeders who would need to merge germplasm records should first send a request to the administrators before doing this step. Administrators can access the Merge tab in the Germplasm browser to proceed.
From the Germplasm tool, click Merge. The tab will display the merge germplasm browser, where you will see all germplasm merge transactions in the system.
Let’s start merging germplasm!
Create a germplasm merge transaction
Download germplasm merge template
In the Merge tab, download the prescribed format by clicking Template.
Fill out the CSV template with the germplasm merge information you want to upload to the system. The CSV template contains variables to be populated with valid information.
Save the edited CSV file on your computer.
Upload a merge germplasm
In the Merge tab, Click Upload.
In the Merge Germplasm File Upload modal window, Browse for the merge file you created.
Select the file or drag and drop it in the modal window, then click Validate.
Once successfully uploaded, the file status of the merge file will be changed to CREATED. To continue with the merge, click the Validate merge transaction button ().
A preview of the germplasm records to be merged will be shown in the browser. Click Merge then Merge All.
A data validation job will run in the background. The File Status column in the browser will show a status of VALIDATION IN PROGRESS.
Once the data validation finishes successfully, the File Status column will display the MERGE READY status message.
The status message VALIDATION ERROR is displayed when errors are detected in the CSV file.
In the germplasm browser, click the Complete merge transaction ( ) to complete the merge transaction.
A preview of the records to be merged will be shown in the browser. Once satisfied, Click Complete. Once done, the status of your merge germplasm will change to COMPLETED.
Resolve a merge conflict
A warning message is displayed if the system detects potential conflicts before completing the merge transaction.
To view the conflicts, download the .csv file of the merge conflict report from the warning message.
Click Resolve to submit the merge transaction for conflict resolution.
A new page will appear with the merge conflict that was previously identified. The status of your merge transaction will change to resolving conflict.
On the Conflict Resolution column, you can decide how you want to resolve the conflicting records by using the toggle. Turning the toggle on () means that you prefer to use the value from the merge germplasm and vice versa.
Once done with resolving the conflict, click Submit then Submit All. Otherwise, click Back.
Merge records with pending resolutions will remain in the transaction.
You will be redirected back to the previous page with the merge germplasm transaction. Click Complete to finalize the transaction.
You can also complete the transaction for merge transactions with the resolving conflict status by clicking the Complete merge transaction ( ) button.
Delete a merge germplasm
In the Merge tab, locate the merge germplasm transaction for deletion in the germplasm browser. Click the Delete merge transaction button () beside the transaction to be deleted.
In the Delete File Upload Transaction modal window, click Confirm to delete the transaction in the system.
Well done! The merging of germplasm records is successful and can be used in experiments.
