Manage search results

After identifying the seeds that you want to search for, the results will be reflected in the search results section. You can manage your search results by grouping, filtering, or adding them in the working list browser.

View search results

Grouped results

The search results table shows the available seeds on the lower half of the screen. By default, the results are automatically grouped by germplasm, indicated by a row header that shows the (1) germplasm name, (2) package count, and (3) seed count.

Seeds are germplasm associated with harvest information (location, date harvested, etc.), while Packages are physical seeds placed inside a container. One seed can have multiple packages.

Ungrouped results

You can also view your search results without the germplasm groupings or headers. Simply click Search results settings () on top of the Search Results Viewer and toggle off Group Results.

Filter and sort search results

Filter your results by typing a value in the blank header field or sort them by clicking on a column header. Use the exact string or the wildcard (%) if you don’t know the exact germplasm name (e.g. IRRI%). You may refer to the drop-down below for the filter options.

  • Germplasm Code

  • Parentage (refers to the cross parentage)

  • Germplasm (refers to the standard preferred name)

  • Program

  • Label

  • Seed Name

  • Seed (refers to the IRIS Germplasm identification number)

  • Package Qty. (refers to the number of seeds or materials a package has)

  • Unit

  • Other Name

  • Experiment year

  • Experiment type

  • Experiment

  • Occurrence

  • Harvest date

  • Season

  • Facility

Sorting is applied with respect to germplasm groupings. This means that whichever column you sort, the results are still displayed based on the alphabetical order of the germplasm group. You can turn off this feature by referring to the View ungrouped search results section.

For example:

If the results are sorted by year in descending order, a package from the germplasm BRRI 012 of the year 2016 will appear before a package from the germplasm IRRI 123 of the year 2017.

Add records to your list

To create a working list, you need to select a record from the Search Results Viewer and add it to the Working List Browser. There are four ways to add a record.

Single selection

This method allows you to select and add only one record at a time for each germplasm.

1. Locate the desired record from the search results.

2. Click the options button beside the record name to select it.

3. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click on Add to Seedlist ( ) to add the record to the working list browser.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you have all the desired records in your working list browser.

Multiple selection

This method allows you to select and add multiple records from the same germplasm group at the same time.

1. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click Search results settings () to show the different selection options.

2. Toggle beside Multiple selection to enable it. Make sure that the button turns green ().

3. Locate the desired records from the search results.

4. Tick the checkboxes of the records that you want to add to your list.

5. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click Add to Seedlist ( ) to add the selected records.

6. Repeat steps 3-5 until you have all the desired records in your working list browser.

Automatic selection

This method allows the system to automatically select and add all single-package records from a germplasm group (e.g. If germplasm IRRI 154 only has one package/record, it will be selected. However, germplasm IRRI 153 which has two packages/records, will not be selected).

1. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click Search results settings () to show the different selection options.

2. Toggle beside Automatic selection to enable it. Make sure that the button turns green ().

If you only enable Automatic selection, the system will only select and add one record at a time. To select multiple single records, you must enable both Automatic selection and Multiple selection.

3. Wait for the Search Results Viewer to finish reloading. The system will automatically select all single-package records per germplasm group.

4. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click Add to Seedlist ( ) to add the selected records.

5. Review the working list browser to check the records added.

Add all records to the list

This method allows you to add all the records from the search to the working list. Selecting this option is recommended for small and specific search results, and should not be used on large search results.

1. At the top of the Search Results Viewer, click the Add ALL records to Seedlist () button.

2. Wait for both the search results viewer to finish loading. All the records are reflected in the working list browser.

If at any point you want to perform a new search, you can simply follow the steps in performing a basic or additional search. The records you’ve added to your working list will not be removed unless you clear the working list or save the list.

By default, records added to the working list will be seen but greyed out in the results viewer. If you wish to remove the added records in search results, simply click Search results settings () > toggle off Retain selection.

Great job! You have successfully managed your results. Finally, let’s create your working seed list!
