The majority of the EBS tools will have a table containing the main information or products related to that tool (e.g., the Experiment Creation tool will have a table of experiments). This table is known as a data browser, and understanding the basic features is useful when interacting with the different tools of the EBS.

Toolbar

A toolbar refers to the different buttons often seen on the top right side of a data browser. Although some tools may have unique actions, the three actions are present in all data browser toolbars - Notifications, Reset grid, and Personalize grid settings.

Notifications

If users have any background processes or transactions in action, they can keep track of them using the notification button. Simply click on Notifications to check the notification.

Reset grid

If users have any filters applied to the data browser, they can quickly reset this and go back to the default view by clicking on Reset grid

Personalize grid settings

If users want to change the amount and type of information being presented in the data browser, they can click Personalize grid settings to personalize the browser settings. A pop-up window will appear where they can change the number of rows visible per page in the browser (max 100), change the columns visible and the order they appear, and select the grid theme. Once satisfied, click Apply at the bottom right of the pop-up window.

Changes will remain even after logging out.

Manage sorts

If users want to arrange their entries according to the data columns, they may sort them by clicking the Manage sorts icon seen in the toolbar. This is usually seen when arranging your list items in List Manager or reordering entries in the Experiment Creation tool.

  1. Click the Manage sorts icon from the toolbar.

  2. Wait for the modal window to open. Here users can configure a new sort setting or choose from the previously saved sort definitions. Let’s try to define a new sorting condition by clicking Add Column.

  1. From the dropdown menu, select the columns to sort and whether to sort them in ascending or descending order.

  1. Users can remove their sorting parameters by clicking Clear All.

  2. Users can also save their current sorting parameters for future searches. To do so, click Save on the left side of the pop-up window. Provide a name for the sorting parameters and click Save.

Saved sort settings will allow them to have multiple sorting configurations so that they don’t need to define them every time.

  1. Once satisfied, click Apply on the lower right corner.

Headers

The EBS supports interactive headers that users can click to sort in ascending or descending order, and they can search for a specific word or phrase in each column. To sort the results, simply click the header name. To search for something under a specific column, simply type in the text field below the header name. Refer to the search guide below.

Wildcards

A wildcard is a character that replaces the missing letters to easily search for values. In EBS, the wildcard is represented by the percent (%) sign.

These examples show how to search for the phrase Harvest Area in sqm.

  • If users know the exact word or phrase, simply type Harvest Area in sqm into the text field.

  • If users only know the starting letters or phrase, type Harvest%

  • If users only know the ending letters or phrase, type %sqm

  • If users only know parts of a phrase but not the starting and ending letters, type %area%
