The Field Book App by PhenoApps is a mobile application for phenotypic data collection. This replaces the traditional way of collecting data, which is by using paper and pen and by encoding data collected in a computer thereafter. Field book was created to improve data collection by making the process efficient while minimizing errors caused by manual encoding.

Particularly, the Field Book App allows you to collect data and submit collected data using occurrence and trait files exported from an occurrence/s in the EBS.

Getting Started

This user guide will serve as an end-to-end guide on how to use the FieldBook App with the EBS. But before you jump into that, make sure you have the following:

  1. EBS CB-Experiment Manager. Be sure to set up trait protocols before importing your occurrence on your Field Book App.

  2. EBS account. Make sure you have the correct username and password for your mobile app. Alternatively, ensure you're logged into your work email that matches your EBS login details.

  3. Local device. Dedicate one file folder on your mobile device to store your files.

  4. Field Book App. Download and install the Field Book App from Google Play on your Android device. After that, adjust the basic app settings to get started.

For demo purposes, you may also download and install the app using Field book v5.6.21.apk.
