After identifying your entries, you may now plan the planting arrangement. This involves adding blocks, assigning entries to them, and managing the blocks. You may skip this step if you plan to design your field layout using KDX.
There are two options available when selecting the blocks' arrangement: Add blocks and Entry order.
Add blocks - allows you to add selected/all entries to each block.
Entry order - enables your planting arrangement in entry order regardless of the number of replicates specified for each entry.
From the Select arrangement subtab, you have the option to choose whether you’re going to add blocks first or arrange the order of your entries. To choose, toggle between Add Blocks and Entry Order.
Note that shifting to a different arrangement will nullify your updates.
Arrangement using Entry Order
Choosing Entry Order allows arranging entries into planting arrangements without assigning blocks and regardless of the number of replicates specified. To choose, toggle to Entry Order.
On the Entry Order subtab, click Define dimension to update the arrangement information parameters.
Change the no. of rows in block, the no. of columns in block, the starting corner, and the plot numbering order. Once satisfied, click Save.
The no. of entries in block and no. of plots in block are fixed and can’t be changed. The rest of the fields are required to be filled in.
To check how your planting arrangement will appear, click Preview Layout. A preview of your planting arrangement will reflect on the right side.
Update no. of replicates
Click on Update No. of Reps.
You may specify the number of the entries' replicates as necessary.
If you are satisfied with the number of replicates, click Save Changes. Once the arrangement is successful, you may click Next on the upper-right corner of the screen.
You can also add number of replicates in bulk. Click on the of the entries to update and indicate the number of replicates at the text area provided. Then, click Bulk Apply.
Upload planting arrangement
For entry order arrangements generated outside EBS, you can now upload them in the Planting Arrangement tab.
Click Upload ().
On the Upload Planting Arrangement modal window, click Browse on the lower right part of the screen, and select the file containing the planting arrangement from your local drive.
You may download the planting arrangement template from the modal window. Make sure that the entry number and plot number are filled out.
Click Validate to verify the upload.
A summary information panel will display the details about the arrangement. Click Confirm to proceed.
Your planting arrangement will be processed in the background. Once done, click the Notifications () from the toolbar and select the topmost update. This confirms the successful uploading of your planting arrangement.
To review the created planting arrangement, click Edit () beside the occurrence and go to the Planting Arrangement tab.
Arrangement using Add Blocks
Choosing Add Blocks allows arranging entries by blocks and sub-blocks to different planting arrangements. To choose, toggle to Add Blocks.
Add blocks
You may add or remove your nursery blocks and sub-blocks in the Add Blocks subtab. This is where you will assign your entries and arrange their planting arrangements later on.
1. Specify the number of blocks you wish to add. Then, click Add.
2. Under the No. of sub-blocks column, specify the number of sub-blocks and block type in each block as necessary. You can delete a block if needed by clicking the beside each row.
3. Once satisfied, click Continue. You’ll be notified that you have successfully added blocks and will be redirected to the Assign entries subtab.
Assign entries
The Assign Entries subtab is where you assign entries to your blocks. It has three sections: (A) Filter entries, (B) Entries, and (C) Working List.
1. Click on Filter entries to specify your filters for your entries you wish to assign to a block. You can choose from range, entry role, description, and germplasm name. After that, click Submit.
Filtering entries is not required, but you are encouraged to use it. By default, all of their entries are loaded in the Entries section.
2. The Entries section will show the filtered results or your whole entries. You may also specify the number of the entries' replicates in No. of Reps column.
You may also bulk update the number of reps by selecting the entries and clicking .
3. Tick the of the entries you wish to add and assign to your blocks then click Manage Entry Reps.
4. The Working List section will reflect the entries you’ve added. Tick the of the entries you wish to assign to a block. Click Add to Block to add the entries to a block.
5. On the Assign entries to blocks modal window that appears, tick of the block/s where you wish to assign your selected entries.
6. Specify details for your selected blocks. These include the no. of rows and columns in the block, starting corner, and plot numbering order. You may refer to the drop-down below for the values. Once done, click Save.

7. Click Assign More to assign more entries to other blocks. Otherwise, click Manage Blocks. If you choose the latter, you’ll be directed to Manage Blocks subtab.
Modify entries in a block
You may also add or overwrite entries in a block with existing entries.
1. Repeat steps 1-7 of assigning entries to a block.
2. Then on the Assign entries to blocks modal window, toggle to Append or to add entries from a populated block. If you wish to Overwrite your entries in an already existing block, toggle .
3. Once satisfied, click Save.
Delete entries
Tick the of the entries you wish to remove from your working list. On the upper right of your working list, click.
Reorder entry replicates
1. Tick the of the entries you wish to remove from your working list. On the upper right of your working list, click the Reorder item button.
2. From the Reorder Entry Replicates modal window, select the reorder method between Cascade and Swap. Refer to the drop-down menu below for the conditions.
3. Change the order of the entries from the New Order Number column. Once done, click Confirm.
Manage blocks
From the Manage Blocks subtab, you’ll be able to view your planting arrangement with the entry number and plot number reflected and to make changes in your planting arrangement. You may also view the list of plots assigned to each block, and remove and reorder the plots.
1. On the left side, click on the tab of the block whose information you wish to update. You may also do this step and the remaining steps in Manage blocks for your sub-blocks.
All entries must be included in their respective blocks and sub-blocks.
2. Update the block’s information as necessary. You may change the no. of rows in block, the no. of columns in block, the starting corner, and the plot numbering order. To check how your planting arrangement will appear, click Preview Layout.
3. A preview of your planting arrangement will reflect on the right side. Once satisfied, click Save.
The order of the plots will reset once these changes are saved.
Remove a block
1. On the left side, click on the tab of the block whose information you wish to delete. Click Remove Block.
2. Once a confirmation appears, click Confirm to proceed with the deletion.
Remove plots
1. On the left side, click on the tab of the block whose information you wish to delete. Then, click Manage Plots.
2. Tick the of the plot/s you wish to remove. On the upper-right corner of the list, click Remove Plot.
Reorder plots
Drag and drop the plots to change their order. You will be notified that you have successfully reordered the plots in the block.
While the order of the plots changes, the entry number does not.
Overview
Once done with managing your blocks, you can click the Overview subtab to check the number of entries assigned to your blocks and to view your blocks' information. All entries must be included in their respective blocks and sub-blocks.
Once the assignment of blocks is successful, you may click Next on the upper-right corner of the screen.
Great job! You have selected your planting arrangement and arrange your entries. You can now start defining the protocols.
