Combining two or more germplasm into a single record can now be done by administrators in the Germplasm tool. Breeders who would need to merge germplasm records should first send a request to the administrators before doing this step. Administrators can access the Merge tab in the Germplasm browser to proceed.

Get started

1. From the Germplasm tool, click Merge. 2. The Merge tab will display the merge germplasm browser, where you will see all germplasm merge transactions in the system.

A. File Status lets you know the progress of the merge indicated by a status.

B. Template lets you download the prescribed CSV format for the merge file.

C. Upload lets you add new germplasm merge in the system.

D. Notification icon informs you about developments in the background processes.

E. Reset grid icon reverts you to the default germplasm merge browser display.

F. Personalized grid settings icon allows you to hide or unhide columns in the germplasm merge browser.

G. Export icon generates a copy of the germplasm merge browser in various file formats.

Let’s start merging germplasm!

Create a germplasm merge transaction

1.

Download germplasm merge template

  1. In the Merge tab, download the prescribed format by clicking Template.

  1. Fill

  1. out the CSV template with the germplasm merge information you want to upload in the system. The CSV template contains variables to be populated with valid information.

  1. Save the edited CSV file on your computer.

Upload a merge germplasm

  1. In the Merge tab, Click Upload.

  1. In the Merge Germplasm File Upload modal window, Browse for the merge file you created.

  1. Select the file or drag and drop it in the modal window, then click Validate.

Awesome! Now that you’re familiar with the germplasm merge browser tools and have created your germplasm merge in the template, let’s manage these merge transactions!

  1. Once successfully uploaded, the file status of the merge file will be changed to

    . To continue with the merge, click (blue star).

  1. A preview of the germplasm records to be merged will be shown in the browser. Click Merge then Merge All.

  1. A data validation job will run in the background. The File Status column in the browser will show a status of

  2. Once the data validation finishes successfully, the File Status column will display the

  1. In the germplasm browser, click (tick) to complete the merge transaction.

  1. A preview of the records to be merged will be shown in the browser. Once satisfied, Click Complete. Once done, the status of your merge germplasm will change to

Resolve a merge conflict

From 23.06 sprint update

A warning message is displayed if the system detects potential conflicts before completing the merge transaction.

  1. To view the conflicts, download the .csv file of the merge conflict report from the warning message.

  1. Click Resolve to submit the merge transaction for conflict resolution.

  1. A new page will appear with the merge conflict that was previously identified. The status of your merge transaction will change to

  1. On the Conflict Resolution column, you can decide how you want to resolve the conflicting records by using the toggle. Turning the toggle on ((blue star)) means that you prefer to use the value from the merge germplasm and vice versa.

  1. Once done with resolving the conflict, click Submit then Submit All. Otherwise, click Back.

Merge records with pending resolutions will remain in the transaction.

  1. You will be redirected back to the previous page with the merge germplasm transaction. Click Complete to finalize the transaction.

Delete a merge germplasm

  1. In the Merge tab, locate the merge germplasm transaction for deletion in the germplasm browser. Click (blue star) beside the beside the transaction to be deleted.

  1. In the Delete File Upload Transaction modal window, click Confirm to delete the transaction in the system.
