The EBS supports various kinds of experiments as given in the table below:

Experiment Type

Breeding Trial

Experiments have a set of germplasm with or without check and a statistical design and are conducted in a single or multi-location to compare the yields, disease, physiological traits etc. of selected germplasm

Intentional Crossing Nursery

Parent roles and crosses to be made are predefined before planting and make any type of crosses such as single crosses, double crosses, three-way (top) crosses, back crosses, reciprocal crosses etc.

Cross Parent Nursery

Parent are planted first without assigning parent roles, consider phenotyping or/and genotyping observations (results) to select parents and assign the parent roles before/at flowering time to make any desirable types of crosses

Generation Nursery

Self-pollination occurs naturally and used for selection and advancement of segregating populations and seed increase (multiplications) of any selected lines or populations

Observation

Experiments have small plots commonly used for screening nurseries or disease screening. The entries and checks may be replicated and planted according to the order specified by the user without using a statistical design.
