Upon clicking the Create button in Experiment Creation, a new browser opens with the steps to set up an experiment, organized into tabs for clarity and ease of navigation. These tabs vary depending on the experiment type. For easier navigation, this guide groups them into two categories: default tabs and experiment-specific tabs.

Default tabs

The default tabs—(1) Basic, (2) Entry List, (3) Protocol, (4) Site, and (5) Review—encompass the essential requirements for creating any type of experiment.

Basic tab

The (1) Basic tab enables users to define key details of the experiment such as type, breeding stage, and other relevant information, ensuring a clear and accurate setup from the start.

A. Default Values Displays basic experiment information, including Experiment Type, Crop, Program, and Experiment Code. B. Experiment Variables Enables users to provide experiment details. Users are encouraged to complete the details to manage and track their breeding activities conveniently. C. Next Proceeds to the next step in the experiment creation process

Entry List tab

The (2) Entry List tab serves as a centralized browser for adding and editing germplasm entries associated with the experiment.

A. Entry List Table Displays detailed information per entry, including Entry Code, Germplasm Name and Code, State, Type, Generation, Parentage Enables users to classify their entries according to Entry Type, Role, and Class Ensures the package quantity per entry under the Availability column. B. View Item Count Summary Allows users to easily view the total number of entries currently visible in the table. C. Toolbar Functionalities :add_entries: Add Entries: Selects entries in four ways: Input List, Advanced Nurseries, Copy Entry List, and Saved Lists. :update2: Bulk Update: Quickly applies changes to multiple records at once :setting2: Settings: Manages entries by reordering, removing, or replacing packages :download: Download: Downloads the table content. :reset_grid: Reset grid: Restores default table view by clearing applied filters :setting: Personalized grid settings: Customizes column visibility and layout :M_SORT: Manage sort: Customizes how data columns are arranged D. Pagination Shown at the bottom left, allowing users to navigate through multiple pages of entries with ease.

Protocol tab

The (3) Protocol tab enables users to easily add planting, pollination, trait, management, and harvest protocols for the experiment. This step may be optional, but it helps maintain the accuracy and relevance of the data for the experiment.

A. Planting: Defines values for Crop Establishment, Planting Type, Plot Type, and other planting protocols B. Traits: Adds and manages traits from the experiment Add Traits or Trait Lists dropdown: Enables users to look for traits or trait lists available in List Manager :ADD: Add: Selects the trait or trait list :replace1: Replace: Replaces the list with the selected trait :update2: Bulk update: Quickly applies changes to multiple records at once :delete1: Delete: Removes traits from the list C. Management: Selects field management attributes. Add Management Attribute or Management Lists dropdown: Enables users to look for management attributes or management lists available in List Manager :ADD: Add: Selects the management attribute or management list :replace1: Replace: Replaces the list with the selected management attribute :update2: Bulk update: Quickly applies changes to multiple records at once :save_list1: Save as list: Create management lists :delete1: Delete: Removes management attributes from the list D. Harvest: Identify Harvest Method and Instructions. E. Pollination (for crossing and advancing experiments): Provide pollination instructions.

Site tab

The (4) Site tab enables users to add occurrences and modify their information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date location data for the experiment.

A. Occurrences Table Enable users to add and modify occurrence information such as Occurrence Name, Site, Field, Description, and Contact Person. B. Toolbar Functionalities :update2: Bulk Update: Quickly applies changes to multiple records at once :reset_grid: Reset grid: Restores default table view by clearing applied filters :setting: Personalized grid settings: Customize column visibility and layout

Review tab

The (5) Review tab provides a final opportunity to verify all experiment details, helping ensure accuracy before completing the creation process.

A. Entry List (Parent List for crossing experiments) Provides a list of entries, including their associated germplasm and parent roles, if applicable. B. Cross List (only for crossing experiments) Displays detailed information on each cross, including the male and female germplasm used C. Occurrences Shows all occurrences generated for the experiment :expand: Expand: Enables users to view the plot list and its design coordinates, if there are any :download: Download: Downloads the occurrence file that contains all relevant data D. Complete Creation Finalizes the entire experiment creation process
