Install Field Book
To get started, download and install the application on the Android device using the Google Play Store
Via Google Play Store:
Open the Google Play Store and search for Field Book.
Look for the Field Book app with this logo
.
Click Install and then Open.
Follow the initial setup instructions on how to set up BrAPI.
Define and set up local storage for Field Book
Make sure the device is connected through wifi or mobile data while setting up, importing occurrences, and exporting/syncing trait data.
Click the DEFINE button.
Create a new folder for the data and name it as preferred, then click Ok. Once satisfied, click USE THIS FOLDER.
If the device prompts users to allow the setting, click Allow.
If the user previously used a folder with the Field Book app, click SKIP to avoid migrating old files.
For any location requests, select While using the app.
When asked to load sample data, click No.
If prompted to enable the tutorial, click No.

Initial Field Book set-up instructions
For initial settings that require URLs, please consult the EBS experts or administrators.
Go to Settings.
Click BrAPI.
Check the checkbox to Enable BrAPI. More settings will be displayed after enabling the option.
In the Auth Settings, select OIDC Flow and then click OAuth2 Implicit Grant.
Set up the EBS environment:
Click the OIDC Discovery URL and update the current URL with the OIDC configuration.
For demo purposes, use this URL: https://cbbrapi-demo.ebsproject.org/.well-known/openid-configuration, then click OK.
Under Configuration:
Click Base URL and update it with the environment Base URL.
For demo purposes, use this link: https://cbbrapi-demo.ebsproject.org, then click AUTHORIZE.
Enter the EBS login credentials or use the work email registered with EBS.
A message will prompt, asking, “Make this BrAPI server the default?” Check the box to enable Import and Export Source, then click Save.
Click Display Name and enter the preferred group name, then click OK.
Once completed, click Back.
Optional Field Book settings
Set up name of data collector
Go to Settings then Profile.
Click on Person.
Enter the preferred name or team name, then click Save.
Check the checkbox for Unique ID.
Once completed, click Back.
Enable the datagrid view for collected data
Go to Settings.
Click on General.
Check Datagrid.
Once completed, click Back.
Enable camera scan for QR codes
Go to Settings.
Click on General.
Click on Move to unique identifier, then Direct Camera Scan.
Once completed, click Back.
