Map an occurrence
Mapping an occurrence allows breeders to provide the planting coordinates for a specific occurrence.
Review the operational definition of location in the provided link to be guided on how to generate one for the occurrences.
Generate a new location
If the users previously specified the design layout in the Experiment Creation, they can generate a new location according to that layout.
Click the Generate location icon beside the occurrence.
Provide the Location Steward (auto-generated or user input) and Location Name. Optionally, provide a description of the location.
Tick the checkbox below to match the previously specified design layout with the field layout and planting area coordinates. Once done, click Next.
Users can skip this step if they plan to provide custom planting arrays for their occurrence.
Finalize the mapped planting area coordinates and other information by clicking Confirm. The occurrence will then have the mapped status.
Provide custom planting arrays
If the users skip generating the field layout in the Experiment Creation or need to use a different one, they can upload their planting arrays in Experiment Manager.
Download a mapping file
Click Download files beside the occurrence > Mapping file (CSV). The file will be saved immediately to the local drive.
Alternatively, tick the checkbox beside one or more occurrences. Then, click Download files > Mapping files. The files will be saved immediately to the local device.
Modify and upload the custom planting coordinates
From the downloaded mapping file, update the following columns: PA_X, PA_Y, FIELD_X, and FIELD_Y.
PA_X and FIELD_X, as well as PA_Y and FIELD_Y, do not necessarily need to be equal. The planting area is specified at the experiment level, while the field is determined by the actual position.
Another tool to use when creating a custom planting array is the KDXplore app. Refer to this guide in setting up and using the tool.
Go to Experiment Manager and click the Upload button > Mapped plots.
Switch the toggle to upload the custom planting coordinates to a new or existing location.
If the user selects New location, they must provide the Location Name, Location Steward, and Description.
Click Browse or drag and drop the the file.
After that, click Validate.
Finalize the mapped planting area coordinates and other information by clicking Confirm. The occurrence will then have the mapped status.
Users may still update their mapping coordinates to an already PLANTED occurrence by re-uploading their mapped plots to an existing location.
Commit an occurrence
Click the Commit occurrence icon beside the mapped occurrence.
Click Confirm to finalize the action. The occurrence will now have the planted status.
