The next step is to create an entry list. Here, you add germplasm or lines as entries, select seed lots, and manage your existing entries.

Add Entries

  1. On top of the entry list data browser, click + to add entries.

     

  2. Wait for the Add Entries modal window to appear.

  3. You can add entries using four methods: Input List, Advanced Nursery, Copy Entry List, or Saved List.

 

Add entries using input list

This allows the user to copy-paste a list from an external file that consists of the names (germplasm) of the lines that will be added to the entry list. Each name within the list is validated and only valid names that have germplasm record in the database are accepted.

 

1. On the left menu of the Add Entries modal window, click Input List.

 

2. From an external list, copy the germplasm names paste them into the text field.

3. Click Search.

 

4. The modal window will show whether the germplasm names you’ve added are valid (A). Invalid entries are indicated at the bottom (B).

If an input is highlighted, it means that the provided germplasm name is different from the standard designation. When you add these entries, the system will use the standard designation as its germplasm name.

5. Once you’re satisfied with your list of entries, click Add Entries.

After the entries have been added you can proceed to select seed lots.

Add entries from an advanced nursery

This allows the user to add entries from a nursery that has been harvested and has packages in the inventory. All harvested packages that are not checks are added to the entry list. If the germplasm has one package, the package is selected as a seed source.

 

1. On the left menu of the Add Entries modal window, click Advanced Nursery.

 

2. The modal window will then show a list of nursery experiments from which you can get your entries. Find the experiment whose entries you want to view and then click its .

3. Once you’re satisfied with the list of entries presented, click Add Entries.

After the entries have been added you can proceed to select seed lots.

Copy an entry list

A user can select a committed experiment from a list to copy all its entries and seed sources.

1. On the left menu of the Add Entries modal window, click Copy Entry List.

 

2. The modal window will then show a list of experiments from which you can get your entries. Find the experiment whose entries you want to view and then click its .

3. Once you’re satisfied with your list of entries, click Add Entries.

After the entries have been added you can proceed to select seed lots.

Add entries from a saved list

A user can select an experiment entry list that has been created. This will add all entries and their seed sources if they have been assigned to the entry list.

1. On the left menu of the Add Entries modal window, click Saved List.

2. The modal window will then show your saved lists where you can get your entries from. Locate your desired saved list then click its .

After the entries have been added you can proceed to select seed lots.

You may select seed lots per entry, for multiple entries, or for all entries at once

Select seed lots per entry

1. For each entry, check the seed lot status under the Availability column. You may refer to the drop-down field below for the definition of each status.

Select - Seed lots have not been selected yet.

Selected - The seed lot is already pre-selected. This can be because the entry only has one seed lot available or if the selected entry was pre-selected from a list or study.

Selection - There are multiple available seed lots that can be selected for that entry.

Unavailable - There are no available seed lots for that entry.

3. If there are entries with a Selection status, click on its status.

4. Once the Select Seed Lot modal window appears, select one among the list of seed lots you can use by ticking .

5. Click Save at the bottom right.

For unavailable entries, you will only be able to update them by following the instructions for selecting multiple entries.

 

Select seed lots for multiple entries

1. Select multiple entries by ticking on the left side of the entries you wish to select.

2. On the upper-right of the Entry List data browser, click > Select seed lots > Selected.

 

3. Once the Select Seed Lots modal window appears, fill in the fields to filter your seed sources.

 

5. Click Search to see which seed lots you can use.

6. The system will automatically select any available seed lot from your search. Once satisfied, click Confirm.

Select seed lots for all entries

1. On top of the Entry List data browser, click > Select Seed Lots > All.

 

2. Once the Select Seed Lots modal window appears, fill in the fields to filter your seed sources.

3. Then click Search to see which seed lots you can use.  

4. Select from the available seed lots, then click Confirm.

 

Update entry information

1. Once you’ve selected seed lots for all entries, specify the parent role, parent type, and description of your entries. You may do so one entry at a time or in bulk.

Female-and-Male - used for entries that are used as both female parent and male parent while making crosses

2. Tick the on the left side of the entries you wish to update.

3. On the upper-right side of the Parent List data browser, click .

 

4. Once the Bulk Update modal window appears, select the variable (column) you wish to update.

Once you update the values of your entry records, all related information (e.g. crosses, design) will be updated for the selected entries.

5. Provide the information needed for the variable.

6. Once satisfied, click Selected for only the selected entries, Selected in page for selected entries on your current page, or All to update all entries.

 

7. Wait for the notification to appear in the upper right corner. Repeat steps 4-6 as necessary. Afterward, click Close.

8. Once you’re done updating, click Next on the upper-right corner of the screen.


Great job! You’re done adding entries and can now specify their planting arrangement.
